OZARK TRAIL IN MISSOURI


Overview: This 30 mile section of OZT completed in 1988 links section 13, Between the Rivers with existing OZT, to the east, and the planned section 15, Norfolk Lake/Tecumseh/Udall, to the West. The Missouri portion of the Ozark Trails System will end with this section in Ozark county near hwy. 101 and Norfolk Lake, a 2,200-acre lake with 200 acres in MO and 2,000 acres in Arkansas. The trail will then continue south into Arkansas (section 16 of this website). Sections 16-20 in Arkansas encompass the 165 mile long Ozark Highlands Trail (OHT).

North trail head at F.R. #3152 approx. 6 mi E of hwy 19. South trail head is east 1 mi off hwy 99 on F.R. #3173 and N 1 mi on F.R. #4155. The trail proceeds south from Hurricane Creek and F.R. #3152 for 10 miles through rugged slopes and flowages associated with the Eleven Point Natl Scenic River. Greer Recreation Area is located at mile 10. Proceed south to bluff view at mile 12 with 1 mile spur to McCormack Lake. Continues W along Eleven Point R. passing Bockman Spring at mile 20, part of the Spring Creek flowage which constitutes the last 10 miles of this section. The trail ends near state hwy 99 on F.R. #4155.

- Trail head parking at F.R. #3152, Greer Recreation Area on hwy 19, at McCormack Lake recreation Area W of hwy 19, and at W terminus on F.R. #4155.
- Eleven Point River boat launches at Thomasville, Cane Bluff, Boomhole, Greer Crossing, Turners Mill (N and S), McDowell, Whitten, Riverton East and hwy 142. Equestrian use on part of this section of OZT and Blue Ridge Horse trail. Hiking on foot permitted on all portions of OZT.

Foot, mountain biking and equestrian use. Lakes, hiking trails, Eleven Point River recrational activities including boating, canoeing, swimming, floating and fishing.

White's Creek Trail in 16,500 acre Irish Wilderness (18.5 mi). OZT (70 mi total and 3 sections in Doniphan District). Songbird Trail in Watercress Recreation Area (1.5 mi loop). McCormack-Greer Trail McCormack Lake recreation area to Greer crossing (3.5 miles main trail + 4 mi extension trails). The Eleven Point River Ranger District also includes the Blue Ridge Horse Trail (10 mi loop + 7.3 mi on OZT).
