OZARK TRAIL IN MISSOURI

Overview: This unofficial section is designated for descriptive purposes as OZT extending from the western boundary of section 14, Eleven Point River, lying to the east and extending to the Missouri and Arkansas state line near the town of Tecumseh. That small town is located on hwy. 101 near Norfork Lake (200 of its 2,200 total acres lie in Missouri with the largest part in northern Arkansas). Udall and Coanah are U.S. Army Corps of Engineers facilities with camping, cabins for hunters and fishermen, and marinas that connect with Norfolk Lake. The OZT will pass through that part of the Mark Twain National Forest managed by the Willow Springs U.S. Forest Ranger District. A __ mile section of OZT currently connects with the Ridge Runner trail within the Willow Springs forest district.

MO-DNR and the Ozark Trail Council are planning this section in concert with it member organizations. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers maintains a recreation boating, fishing and camping area at Norfork Lake and marinas at Udall and Chaonis Landings.

Directions

Eastern boundary near Hwy. 99 at western terminus on F.R. #4155 of OZT Section 14 Eleven Point River. The planned trail designated by a dashed red line on the MO-DNR 1991 brochure "Ozark Trail" map roughly parallels the route of hwys ___ and ___ into the Mark Twain National Forest's Willow Springs Ranger District territory. It then bends south to parallel hwy 101 along the eastern boundary of Norfolk Lake which crosses the MO-ARK boundary line with a 200/2000 acre split between Mo and ARK portions of the Lake.
