The City of Arnold just south of St. Louis on U.S. Interstate highway 55 is closest to the new origination point of the Ozark Trail Head at the confluence of the Mississippi and Meramec Rivers. Castlewood State Park, identified on the 1997 OZT website as the probable eastern trail head, is included in segment 5 of the new plan.

1/2 mile at George Winter Park and 4 miles at Fenton Park has been completed

4 miles of Main Day Use and Cedar Bluffs Units completed
